Suspects’ names released in Birmingham area shooting

Jefferson county deputies release names of 3 men they think were involved in a Center Point shooting.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. —
On October 8, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Chalkville Manor Drive in Center Point to investigate a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 32-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Center Point Fire & Rescue responded and transported the victim to UAB Hospital, where she was treated and later released. The victim was an innocent bystander.
A preliminary investigation revealed that three vehicles were at the location when an individual inside one of the vehicles began firing a gun. All three vehicles then left the scene.
Deputies, along with the Sheriff’s Office STAR 1 Unit, the Metro Area Crime Center (MACC) and drone operators, quickly mobilized to locate the vehicles. All three vehicles were located at separate locations, and the occupants were detained without incident.
“This is an excellent example of our resources coming together to quickly stop, detain and arrest those associated with this violent crime,” said Sheriff Mark Pettway. “The response of our deputies and specialized units helped to stop the offenders from possibly hurting someone else.”
The suspects have been identified as:
– Amari Turnbough, 18, has been charged with two counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling or Vehicle and one count of Assault in the First Degree. Turnbough was released from the Jefferson County Jail after posting a $150,000 bond.
