‘I sold my home at half its value due to Raac’

Yvette, who lived at a flat in the Craigie area of the city with her husband and two children, managed to sell the property after an initial sale fell through.

The family had been in the process of selling their flat when the material was found in the block’s roof.

The property was on the market for more than a year.

“Our future home fell through, because we were unable to purchase it,” she said. “The whole experience was extremely daunting, devastating, emotional, tearful.

“We could not believe that we had to sell our property at such a low price, it was super difficult.”

Yvette said the flat eventually sold for just over half of its value.

“The lowest price we were offered was £35,000 on a property valued at £100,000,” she said.
