Neko Case at Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville on Monday
NEKO CASE
MONDAY 11/2. Walton Arts Center, Fayetteville. 7 p.m. $46-$80.
If you’ve never listened to indie rock singer-songwriter Neko Case, or perhaps it’s just been a minute, the opening lines of “Destination,” the first track on her 2025 album “Neon Grey Midnight Green,” should set you straight. “Hello, stranger / You remind me of someone / A jangling lust pouncing on a sliver of a dusty pool of light / Your fire’s hue is a maraschino cherry,” she sings with laid-back drama, putting forth a knotty lyrical puzzle that’s at once inviting and opaque. Talk about an introduction. Destroyer, the longtime project of Dan Bejar, an equally thrilling lyricist and Case’s former bandmate in Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers, opens this show at the 1,200-seat Baum Walker Hall at Walton Arts Center.
