Boulder fire bomber reaches plea deal on federal charges

The man already serving a life sentence for killing one person and injuring more than a dozen people in a firebombing attack on demonstrators showing support for Israeli hostages has agreed to change his plea to federal hate crimes charges, according to court documents filed Friday.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman (Handout)

Mohammed Sabry Soliman has also agreed to drop his motions trying to stop his family from being deported while his case plays out to comply with the terms of the proposed plea agreement, Soliman’s lawyers said in one filing.

Soliman had been trying to keep his ex-wife and children in the country to help in his defense in case federal prosecutors pursue the death penalty. No details about the plea agreement were included in the filings. They are expected to be revealed when Soliman appears at a Oct. 29 hearing to change his plea.

Soliman, 46, is facing 12 federal charges, including a hate crime in the June 1, 2025, attack on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall.
