Erin Lichy Reveals Daisy Toye’s Role in Martha Stewart Costume
The Real Housewives of New York City star Erin Lichy is setting the record straight on costar Daisy Toye’s involvement with Martha Stewart’s controversial Halloween costume.
“I know that she didn’t [do the makeup],” Lichy, 39, shared on the Tuesday, November 3, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “I know where she was. I track her location. She was not there.”
Host Andy Cohen appeared visibly relieved when he replied, “I’ve been wondering. I’m so happy. This is big news.”
Stewart, 85, made headlines over Halloween weekend when she posted — then deleted — her annual costume. The lifestyle expert wore tattered clothes with what appeared to be dirt — or makeup made to simulate dirt — smeared across her face. She also held up a sign that read, “I AM HUNGRY. HELP ME,” quickly sparking backlash.
“I am distressed that my Halloween costume yesterday, which was intended to bring more awareness to the very serious subject of homelessness, has offended people,” Stewart told Page Six in a statement on Sunday, November 1. “[That] was never my intention.”
She continued, “Homelessness continues to remain one of America’s greatest challenges and ongoing crises, something that I care deeply about and I have spent a significant amount of time and effort supporting charities that combat this ongoing social epidemic. [I am] committed to continuing to make a difference.”
Hours later, Stewart released another statement further apologizing for her actions.

“It’s hard to admit when you’ve really screwed up. My earlier statement didn’t go far enough,” she wrote via Instagram. “I know many people are suffering economically. Wearing a costume like I did was insensitive and not funny. I am very sorry.”
Hours after Lichy’s WWHL revelation, Stewart addressed her costume once again, seemingly placing the blame on Today’s Craig Melvin following her cameo on the morning show’s Halloween episode.
Stewart has made guest appearances throughout season 16 of RHONY because of her close relationship with Toye, 45.
“Daisy is a makeup artist to the stars. At least one star: me. If you can call me that,” Stewart shared on the September 8 episode.
Toye added, “I’ve been with Martha for 17 years. And I [have] traveled the world, [seen] the most unbelievable things, experienced the most insane things. Working for Martha Stewart is f***ing nuts. Like, one week I’m doing Martha’s makeup. The next week, I’m riding a camel with her in Dubai. Or having a tea party … in Abu Dhabi. I’m like, ‘What the f*** am I doing here? I’m wearing Zara.’”
