Police order new curfew Wednesday night in parts of Paris

Paris police announced a new curfew in certain areas of the city from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, following weekend protests that descended into riots.

In addition to the curfew, from 11pm Wednesday to 6am Thursday, police also announced a nighttime ban on all “undeclared public gatherings” starting at 8:00 pm around areas including the presidential palace, national assembly, Senate and Champs-Élysées avenue, in the third consecutive night of restrictions and as the country braces for more protests Saturday.
