The dramatic scenery of Cabo de Gata has travelled inland for a new exhibition in the mountain village of Seron. De la Mar Serena brings together 13 artists working across painting, sculpture, ceramics and other creative forms, offering visitors a varied interpretation of one of Almeria’s best-known natural landscapes.
Thirteen artists showcase work in Seron
The dramatic landscapes of Cabo de Gata have inspired a new art exhibition in the village of Seron.
De la Mar Serena brings together work by 13 artists, with a varied collection covering painting, sculpture, ceramics, engraving and drawing, as well as furniture created from recycled materials.
The exhibition is being held at the Maria del Penon art gallery inside the Centro de Historia de Seron and opened earlier this month.
The range of work means visitors can explore several different artistic disciplines within the same exhibition, rather than seeing a collection focused on a single medium.
Cabo de Gata provides artistic inspiration
Although Seron is some distance from the coast, the exhibition brings a taste of one of Almeria’s best-known natural areas to the mountain village.
Cabo de Gata and its Mediterranean surroundings provide the main inspiration, with the artists using a range of styles, materials and techniques to show their own view of the landscape.
It means visitors can expect much more than a traditional collection of paintings, with plenty of different pieces to see during a visit.
Exhibition offers another reason to explore Seron
The exhibition also offers an excuse to explore Seron, a traditional hillside town known for its whitewashed streets and mountain setting.
Bringing coastal inspiration into the inland village creates a contrast between the Mediterranean landscapes represented by the artists and the mountain surroundings of the exhibition itself.
Weekend opening hours for visitors
De la Mar Serena is open on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Visitors can also see the exhibition on Sundays and public holidays between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
