Mallorca village transforms into festival « Euro Weekly News

A Mallorca village will be transformed into a celebration of contemporary art, wine, music and local creativity this October as TastArt returns to Porreres for its 10th anniversary.
The three-day event will take place from Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 11, with exhibitions, performances, wine tasting and family activities spread across the village.
The highlight will be Saturday night’s Nit de l’Art, when Porreres opens up different spaces to artists and visitors for an evening combining contemporary culture with the island’s wine-making traditions.
Porreres becomes an art trail
The main TastArt celebration takes place on Saturday, October 10 from 7pm, with visitors able to explore different artistic installations and events around Porreres.
Painting, sculpture, installations, performances, music and dance will all feature, creating an event where the village itself becomes part of the experience.
Rather than being confined to one gallery or exhibition hall, TastArt is designed to bring art into different spaces across the municipality, allowing visitors to wander between venues and discover works along the way.
The event has been created around the connection between art and Mallorca’s wine culture, helping to showcase both contemporary creativity and local producers.
Special 10th anniversary artwork
One of the names to look out for this year is Porreres-born artist Gori Mora, who will return to his home village for the anniversary edition.
Mora will present a new work created specifically for TastArt 2026, adding a particularly local element to the festival’s tenth anniversary.
His participation is part of the organisers’ wider aim of giving local artists a platform while also placing Porreres on Mallorca’s contemporary art circuit.
Wine is a major part of the weekend
TastArt isn’t just about looking at art.
Wine is another central part of the programme, with the weekend beginning on Friday, October 9 at 8pm with a wine tasting at the Molí d’en Amengual.
The tasting is free, although places are limited and advance registration is required. It will give visitors the chance to discover local wine while learning more about the producers behind it.
Wine will also feature during Saturday night’s main event.
This year, participating wineries will sell their wines directly from their own stands at Can Feliu – Museu de Porreres. Organisers have changed the system so visitors will not need to purchase separate wine tokens beforehand, instead buying directly from the individual producers.
Something for families too
Although Saturday’s Nit de l’Art is the centrepiece of the festival, TastArt also has a dedicated programme for younger visitors.
TastArt Kids will take place on Sunday, October 11 from 10.30am to 1pm in the Plaça de la Vila.
The programme is aimed at children and includes creative and artistic activities, while the official festival also describes it as a collective exhibition for artists from Porreres aged under 16.
Participation requires registration, with the official registration period running from September 10 to October 2.
This gives families a chance to experience the festival in a quieter daytime setting after the main Saturday evening programme.
A different way to experience Mallorca
TastArt’s tenth anniversary comes as Mallorca’s villages continue to offer alternatives to the island’s larger cultural events.
The festival brings contemporary art into the streets and local spaces of Porreres while putting the island’s wine culture firmly alongside it.
For visitors, that means an evening spent moving between exhibitions, performances and installations can also become an opportunity to discover the village itself.
With the main event free to attend, TastArt offers an accessible way to experience contemporary culture outside Palma while supporting artists and local producers.
The 2026 TastArt programme runs from October 9 to 11, with the main Nit de l’Art on Saturday evening and TastArt Kids bringing the weekend to a close on Sunday.
