EasyJet France pilots call off strike threat

A strike for September 13th and 14th September had already been postponed twice, most recently to October 1st and 2nd.

The SNPL union issued a statement saying the stoppage was off and praised the pilots for their “determined and united mobilisation”.

That ensured that management reached an accord on work schedules that give pilots a better work-life balance, the union added.

It did not disclose further details on the agreement, which members are still to vote on.

EasyJet, a British airline and Europe’s second-largest low-cost carrier after Ireland’s Ryanair, had already faced a strike by cabin crew in mid-August over rota schedules.

An agreement reached on September 1st provides for five days a month of fixed timetables and compensation for changes of more than two hours, backdated to April 1st.

After the agreement for cabin crew, pilots then said they were facing a similar issue.
