County Down: People told to keep windows and doors shut over ‘hazardous gas’ incident
A County Down road has reopened following a suspected chemical leak.
Residents in Magheralin had been advised to keep their windows and doors closed during the alert on Tuesday.
Three fire appliances were sent to the scene on the Steps Road in the village at 13:45 BST but have since left.
Earlier the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said it was dealing with a “hazardous incident involving gas” and advised people to avoid the area.
They said the scene was handed over to the owners of the premises involved in the alert.
The road had been closed in both directions but has since reopened.
