Mallorca hosts international disability tournament « Euro Weekly News

Mallorca is planning to welcome golfers from across the world this November for an international tournament showing how disability need not prevent anyone from enjoying competitive golf.

The 11th Handisport Mallorca Open 2026 takes place from November 10 to 15 at Golf Son Antem in Llucmajor. Players with and without disabilities will meet for competition, workshops and social events.

Organised by Fundación Handisport Mallorca, the tournament is recognised by the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) and included in the World Ranking for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD). Eligible players with disabilities can collect points towards their international ranking.

Charity golf and international competition

Wednesday, November 11, begins with an opening ceremony and inclusive golf workshop. The session gives sporting organisations, professionals and participants an opportunity to exchange knowledge and encourage more people with disabilities to try the game.

Thursday’s programme features an 18-hole charity golf scramble. Local golfers, club members, sponsors and supporters are invited to take part, before the official tournament rounds on Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14. A prize-giving ceremony and gala dinner will follow the final round on Saturday.

Specialist equipment opens up the course

Organisers have said they will provide adapted equipment to help golfers with different mobility needs take part. This includes ParaMotion and Paragolfer mobility devices, Stricker handbikes, golf buggies and individual assistance.

Golf Son Antem’s wheelchair-accessible facilities include specially adapted ParaGolfer vehicles, allowing wheelchair users to play from a standing position. The tournament follows the same inclusive sporting spirit seen at Europe’s first inclusive mini-golf tournament, previously reported by Euro Weekly News.

Beyond the competition, Fundación Handisport Mallorca hopes to encourage wider participation, improve opportunities for people with disabilities and build links between sports clubs, institutions and social organisations.

The foundation also runs activities to improve quality of life through accessible sport and leisure for residents and visitors across Mallorca.

More information about the programme and participation is available through the Race to Mallorca website or the Handisport Mallorca Open 2026 registration form.
