DWTS’ Connor Wood Reacts to Viral Jennifer Lawrence Comment

Connor Wood still hasn’t recovered after being playfully called out by his celebrity crush Jennifer Lawrence.

“We’ve reached out,” Wood, 31, exclusively told Us after Dancing With the Stars‘ Horror Movie Night on Tuesday, October 27. “She’s so busy. She just launched a hair care brand, and I hope that is just amazing. It looks so good. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.”

Wood quipped, “I’m so proud of you, Jennifer. I get to call her Jennifer.”

The comedian recently shouted out Lawrence, 36, in an interview with BuzzFeed Celeb, noting, “I just want just a little acknowledgment from Jennifer Lawrence that I’m funny.”

Lawrence — who officially joined Instagram earlier this year — did acknowledge Wood in the comments section, though not in the way he had hoped.

“I saw you on 8th avenue drinking a smoothie and you paid me no mind,” the Hunger Games actress wrote, instantly going viral.

Wood’s DWTS partner, Rylee Arnold, expertly captured his reaction in a hilarious TikTok video, showing him lying face down on the floor as the pair rehearsed.

“Are you gonna cry?” she teased. “Don’t be upset, she’s doing that to be funny. She’s saying that to be funny. But she knew who you were when she saw you!”

Wood told Us on Tuesday that his time spent on the floor “ate up half of our practice,” joking, “Maybe that made me stronger.”

Memes aside, Wood and Arnold, 21, had something even bigger to celebrate on Tuesday after earning their first 10s of the season for their chilling contemporary routine inspired by Annabelle: Creation. The pair even impressed guest judge Shirley Ballas, who said Arnold’s choreography was “outstanding.”

Arnold gushed after the show that she felt “so proud” of how far Wood has come in the competition.

“I hope everyone also remembers he comes from no dance experience at all,” she told Us. “And genuinely, there were times where I would watch the dance and be like, ‘I feel like it looks like I’m dancing with another professional dancer.’”

Rylee Arnold is ready to return to the Dancing With the Stars live tour after taking a break to focus on her health. “I’m really, really excited to come back,” Arnold, 21, exclusively told Us on Tuesday, October 6, after her participation in the 2026 tour was announced on-air. “It’s a little bit shorter than […]

Looking ahead to Disney Night, Wood doesn’t feel “pressure” to keep the momentum going.

“It’s less so pressure and more so let’s do it again,” he said. “And next week is so different that I’m like, ‘OK, there’s no pressure.’ If we were doing another contemporary next week, it’d be hard to live up to that one. But we’re not. We’re doing something so different.. So it’ll just be a fully different dance. I’m excited to do it.”

As for whether he thought Lawrence might have been tuning in, Wood theorized the actress might be online enough for some DWTS content to have “crossed her desk.”

“I admire you so much, and I appreciate — even indirectly — the work you’ve done for my career,” he joked, sending one last message to the Oscar winner. “So thank you. Would love to see you soon. Maybe Thanksgiving. It’s coming up.”

Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
