When was the last time England played an ODI in Pakistan?

England is returning to Pakistan after 21 years for a white-ball series as both sides take to the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

The two teams, and Sri Lanka, are playing a Tri-Nation ODI series in Pakistan. The host and the Lankans have already met each other once in this double round-robin tournament. Pakistan won the match by 37 runs.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s match will be England’s first ODI in Pakistan since 2005, when the English had toured for a five-match series. The host, back then led by Younis Khan, had clinched a 3-2 series win.

The last match England played in Pakistan was the fifth and final ODI of this series, on December 21, in Rawalpindi. England, led by James Anderson’s four-wicket haul, won by six runs.

Pakistan’s Naved-ul-Hasan was the highest wicket-taker of the ODI series with nine scalps, while Kamran Akmal ended as the top-scorer with 245 runs.
