Mallorca drive-in cinema returns « Euro Weekly News

Film fans in Mallorca can enjoy Hollywood romance, spectacular musical numbers and a family-friendly animated adventure without leaving their cars when a popular drive-in cinema returns to Port Adriano this October.
Cine con Coche will take place on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, bringing four well-known films to the marina in El Toro, Calvià, for two evenings of cinema under the Mallorcan night sky. The event is organised in collaboration with the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival.
Tickets cost €15 per car, with up to four people permitted in each vehicle, offering families, couples and groups of friends a different way to enjoy a movie night.
Four films across two nights
This year’s programme has a musical theme, combining romantic stories, memorable soundtracks and animation.
Friday’s screenings begin at 7.30pm with La La Land, the award-winning musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Set in Los Angeles, the film follows an aspiring actress and a jazz musician as they pursue their ambitions while navigating their relationship.
The second screening of the evening is Moulin Rouge! at 9.30pm, Baz Luhrmann’s lavish musical romance starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. Set in the world of Parisian nightlife, the film is known for its extravagant costumes, energetic musical sequences and dramatic love story.
Both Friday films will be dubbed into Spanish.
Saturday’s programme begins at 7.30pm with Happy Feet, the animated family favourite about Mumble, a young penguin who struggles to sing like the others but discovers a talent for tap dancing.
The final screening is A Star Is Born at 9.30pm, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. The emotional musical drama explores the relationship between an established musician and an emerging singer as her career takes off.
Unlike the other three films, A Star Is Born will be shown in its original version with Spanish subtitles.
How to attend Cine con Coche
The screenings will take place in the central square of Port Adriano, where visitors can watch the films from the comfort of their own vehicles.
Rather than sitting in traditional cinema seats, audiences can settle into their cars and enjoy the big screen with the marina providing the backdrop. The format offers a distinctive alternative to a conventional cinema trip, particularly for those looking for an unusual weekend activity.
However, there are a few practical details to consider before booking. The venue has limited capacity, with tickets sold per vehicle rather than per person. Organisers recommend no more than two people per car for the best view, as passengers in the back seats may struggle to see the screen properly.
Vehicles taller than 1.5 metres are not permitted, so visitors should check their car meets the requirements before setting off.
Tickets are available through the event’s online booking page, with advance reservations recommended due to the limited number of spaces.
With four familiar films, two evenings of entertainment and a distinctive waterfront setting, Cine con Coche offers Mallorca residents and visitors a chance to enjoy a little movie magic in an unconventional setting.
