Almería’s provincial jazz programme reaches its final weekend with three concerts bringing jazz, flamenco, bolero and gospel to communities across the province. Performances in Paterna del Rio, Macael and Laujar de Andarax on October 24 and 25 will bring the curtain down on a programme that has visited 11 municipalities during September and October.
Mar Tiago and Jose Luis Jaen perform
On Saturday, October 24, Mar Tiago and Jose Luis Jaen perform at the Salon Cultural de la Villa del Rio in Paterna del Rio from 8:30 PM.
Both Almeria artists are winners of Canal Sur’s Tierra de Talento. Tiago blends flamenco, jazz, soul and fado, while Jaen brings jazz influences to bolero.
Their performance will be one of two events taking place on Saturday as the provincial programme moves towards its conclusion.
Clasijazz musicians bring jazz to Macael
Also on Saturday, Macael hosts an encounter with the Combos de Clasijazz at 7:30 PM at El Vaticano, Edificio de Servicios Multiples.
The groups include musicians with backgrounds in local bands, bringing traditional band culture together with jazz.
The concert continues the programme’s aim of taking different approaches to jazz into communities across Almeria province and connecting the style with other local musical traditions.
Gospel choir closes weekend in Laujar
The weekend concludes on Sunday, October 25, when the Clasijazz Gospel Choir performs at the Iglesia de la Encarnacion in Laujar de Andarax at 7:00 PM.
Directed by Noemi Perez, the choir is made up of Almeria singers and combines gospel and jazz with other musical influences.
The Sunday evening performance will provide the final event in a weekend featuring three different approaches to jazz across three Almeria municipalities.
Jazz circuit has visited 11 municipalities
The concerts form part of Almeria Provincial Council’s Provincial Jazz Circuit and Ilusionando con el Jazz programme, which has taken concerts, educational performances and musical encounters to 11 municipalities across the province during September and October.
The wider programme has featured artists including Andres Barrios, Antonio Lizana and Big Bandarax, alongside performances by Clasijazz musicians in smaller communities.
The final weekend continues that approach, bringing professional and local performers to venues beyond the province’s larger population centres.
