Al Nasr beat Al Dhafra as Al Jazira prevail over Dibba Al…

The UAE Handball Youth General League witnessed an action-packed day of handball, with six matches producing convincing victories, high-scoring encounters and a thrilling last-minute contest.

Al Nasr delivered one of the most impressive performances of the day, while Al Jazira and Dibba Al Hisn provided the closest finish in a fiercely contested encounter.

Al Nasr began the day’s action with a commanding 53–27 victory over Al Dhafra at Ghayathi Center Hall.

Demonstrating their attacking strength, Al Nasr established a significant advantage to secure a comfortable win and make a strong statement in the youth competition.

The match between Al Nasr and Al Dhafra was officiated by Dr Omar Al Zubair Al Marzouqi, an internationally certified handball referee and elite-level technical observer.

International, Olympic and world-level handball referee Omar Al Marzouqi began his sporting journey as a player with Al Nasr Club, where he played from 1984 to 1998 before embarking on a distinguished career in officiating.

His rise on the international stage began with the awarding of his continental referee badge in Muscat in 2000, followed by his international badge in Kuwait in 2003.

Al Marzouqi reached a historic milestone in 2011 when he officiated the World Championship final between Germany and Denmark in Greece. His appointment marked a breakthrough for non-European referees, ending Europe’s long-standing dominance of officiating men’s World Championship finals since the establishment of the International Handball Federation (IHF).

In recognition of this landmark achievement and his outstanding contribution to the sport, Al Marzouqi received the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award and the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Sports Excellence Award, cementing his place among the UAE’s distinguished sporting officials.

At Al Bataeh Club Hall, Al Bataeh produced an equally convincing performance to defeat Al Ain 45–27. The home side maintained control throughout the contest, showcasing their offensive capabilities and securing an important victory.

Sharjah also enjoyed a successful outing, overcoming Al Wasl 38–32 at Samnan Hall. In a competitive encounter, Sharjah managed to maintain their advantage and finish the match with a six-goal margin, adding another valuable win to their campaign.

One of the most exciting matches of the day took place at Al Jazira Club Hall, where Al Jazira narrowly defeated Dibba Al Hisn 39–38. The closely fought contest kept the outcome in doubt until the final stages, with Al Jazira eventually securing a one-goal victory in the day’s tightest finish. Both sides displayed attacking determination in an encounter that underlined the competitive nature of the league.

Kalba and Mleiha were involved in another high-scoring match at Kalba Club Hall. Kalba emerged victorious with a 51–46 result after an entertaining contest featuring a combined total of 97 goals. The result highlighted the attacking quality of both teams, with Kalba ultimately doing enough to claim the win on home territory.

Shabab Al Ahli recorded the most emphatic victory of the day, defeating Bani Yas 29–4 at Al Zilaqah School Hall. Shabab Al Ahli dominated the scoreboard, limiting their opponents to just four goals and completing a convincing performance.
