India T20I squad to face New Zealand: Bhuvneshwar Kumar recalled to T20I side after four years
The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday announced the T20I squad for the five-match series against New Zealand.
The biggest addition is pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who last played a T20I in November 2022. After two successful campaigns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League, in which he claimed 45 wickets, Bhuvneshwar has earned a recall to the national side.
Varun Chakaravarthy also returns after missing the previous series through injury.
The series will be played from October 22 to November 1, followed by a three-match ODI series and a two-Test series.
The T20Is will mark Shreyas Iyer’s fourth overseas bilateral assignment as captain. He began his tenure with series defeats to Ireland and England before leading India to a 3-0 sweep of Zimbabwe.
Iyer also captained India at the Asian Games in Japan, where it retained the gold medal by beating Pakistan in the final.
