Iran live updates: Iran-backed Houthis blamed for Saudi airport strike that killed 12, including American

President Donald Trump on Saturday night told reporters that the attack on the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was “terrible” and that he would speak with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“I think it’s terrible,” Trump said of the attack.

Asked if the Saudis are able to defend themselves, Trump said: “Well, they’re able to defend. Look, the Saudis are good fighters, but I think the attack was a terrible thing.”

Later he said he had not yet spoken with bin Salman, but that he would, adding “What happened in Saudi Arabia is not acceptable.”
