Asian Games 2026: Saim Ayub celebrates by giving ‘rocking baby’ send-off to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India vs Pakistan gold medal match

Pakistan off-spinner Saim Ayub on Saturday celebrated the wicket of the in-form Vaibhav Sooryavanshi by mimicking a rocking baby during the Asian Games cricket gold medal match at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

Vaibhav opened the innings in customary fashion, carting Saad Masood, who was brought in for this game for two sixes in the second over.

However, in his efforts to mete out the same treatment to Ayub, the 15-year-old tried going for the reverse sweep but failed miserably as an under-edge carried to wicketkeeper Usman Khan.

At one point, it did seem Usman would let the ball slip through his gloves, but after a few fumbles, the 31-year-old ended up holding on.

An elated Ayub gestured using his arms towards Vaibhav, perhaps mocking his young age, before embracing his teammates in a bear hug. Interestingly, Vaibhav’s hard-hitting skills have recently earned him the nickname ‘Boss Baby’.

The Bihar-born batter ended up contributing 15 runs to the team’s total off nine balls. Teammate Abhishek Sharma, at the non-striker’s end, seemed livid at Vaibhav’s shot selection as he turned towards the dugout, asking him to keep walking.
