Walkers can explore 15 kilometres of the Costa Blanca South coastline on a free guided route between Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja on Sunday, October 4.
Organised by Vega Baja development consortium CONVEGA, the walk follows part of the GR-92 Mediterranean Trail, whose Vega Baja stages were named the Valencian Community’s Best Approved Trail for 2025.
Free walk is limited to 100 people
The route is rated as low to medium difficulty, with places limited to a maximum of 100 participants.
Participation is free and includes professional guides, refreshments, insurance, organised transport between different sections of the route and information about the places visited along the way.
Registration is available through the CONVEGA website or in person from 8:00 AM at Costa Bella-La Marina in Guardamar del Segura.
The walk itself is scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM, giving participants time to register and prepare before setting off.
The guided route has been divided into two sections, allowing walkers to experience natural, coastal and historic locations in both Guardamar and Torrevieja.
First section takes walkers through Guardamar
The opening section covers 10.43 kilometres and takes participants through several of Guardamar del Segura’s best-known natural and heritage areas.
The route passes Els Tossals beach and the mouth of the River Segura before continuing past San Antoni watermill and Guardamar Castle.
Walkers will also visit the Alfonso XIII and Reina Sofia parks during the first part of the journey.
Once this section has been completed, participants will travel by organised transport to the starting point for the Torrevieja part of the route.
Torrevieja section explores natural coastline
The second section covers approximately five kilometres and takes walkers through a selection of Torrevieja’s natural and coastal areas.
Highlights include La Mata-Torrevieja Natural Park, La Mata Tower and Cabo Cervera, as well as several of the area’s coastal coves.
Professional guides will provide information about local wildlife, ecosystems, landscapes and history throughout the walk, turning the route into an opportunity to learn more about the natural and cultural heritage of the Costa Blanca South.
A second free GR-92 guided walk is planned for November 8. That route will continue through Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa and Pilar de la Horadada.
