Chinese humanoid robotics firm expanding globally and readying for IPO
Chinese humanoid-robotics maker Unix AI is expanding globally as it eyes an initial public offering. “We are planning an IPO in the future,” founder and Chief Executive Officer Fengyu Yang said on CNBC’s ” Squawk Box Asia ,” adding that it depends on the market environment and regulations. “Most importantly, it depends on how our robots are deployed in the real-life environment for now.” The China market remains the biggest in terms of demand for humanoid robotics for the company, Yang said. Unix AI, which was founded in 2024, has also expanded dramatically since the beginning of this year into markets like Singapore and India in services such as hotel cleaning and retail, Yang noted. “We are quite optimistic [about] the our robots we are currently selling overseas,” he added. More than 50% of the company’s overall orders come from the renewal and repurchasing from clients for their original products, according to Yang. The impact of current U.S. chip export restrictions will be limited, Yang said, as edge computing power used for robots “is not under restriction for now.” Edge computing involves processing and storing data close to where it’s created.
