Seven Havens’ to Release 3 Episodes Per Week on Paramount+

“Avatar: Seven Havens” will drop its first season in batches of three episodes per week.

As previously announced, the new entry in the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” universe will debut on Oct. 9 on Paramount+. Now, Paramount has confirmed that the first three episodes of the first season (or Book 1 in “Avatar” parlance) will premiere on that date, followed by three more episodes each Friday through Oct. 30. Paramount has already greenlit a 13-episode Book 2, the exact premiere date of which will be announced at a later date.

The logline for “Seven Havens” states:

“Set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm, ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra, only to find that in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, Pavi and her long-lost twin Nisha must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

The voice cast includes Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

“Avatar: Seven Havens” is created by franchise masterminds Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who also serve as executive producers via Avatar Studios. Ethan Spaulding is an executive producer as well, with Sehaj Sethi as co-executive producer. Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios produce.

The Oct. 9 premiere date was originally earmarked for the film “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender,” before that release was moved up to July 25 after the movie leaked online earlier this year. It debuted on Paramount+ directly following a special screening at San Diego Comic-Con.

In an interview with Variety around the release of the film, Konietzko spoke about the South Asian influences of “Seven Havens.”

“The concept and even the word ‘avatar’ all come from Indian culture and tradition and Sanskrit,” he said. “So we had done a bit in ‘Avatar,’ the original series. We’re obviously inspired by and draw from a lot of real world cultures for our fantasy world. But that said, I kind of felt like with the first two series, we had underserved that inspiration, and so it was very deliberate with Seven Havens to to code Pavi as a South Asian-inspired character.”
