South Africa vs Australia ODI series: Josh Inglis returns home with fractured finger
Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has returned home with a fractured finger, dealing Australia a blow as it looks to recover from going 1-0 down in its ongoing ODI series against South Africa.
The 31-year-old sustained the injury whilst keeping wickets during the first ODI between the two sides in Durban on Thursday, though he returned to bat in the second innings.
Cricket Australia confirmed Inglis would return to Perth for treatment, “with his availability for the three-match Test series subject to further assessment and progress”.

Inglis is now in a race against time to recover before the marquee Test series between the two sides begins on October 9.
Australia is not expected to name a replacement for Inglis, with Alex Carey slotting into the XI. The second ODI is in Johannesburg on September 27, with the decider in Potchefstroom three days later on September 30.
