Residents told to close windows as fire service tackled blaze

Residents were earlier asked to keep their windows and doors closed as firefighters tackled a blaze at a derelict building in County Antrim.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said crews were attending the fire on Cloughfern Avenue in Monkstown Industrial Estate.

Seven Fire Appliances from Glengormley, Whitla, Central, Westland, Ballyclare Fire Stations, an Aerial Appliance from Springfield Fire Station along with a Command Support Unit from Lisburn Fire Station all attended.

Fifty three operational personnel also attended and the fire was dealt with by 23:15.

Firefighters thanked members of the public for patience while they dealt with the incident.
