AIPAC and the Israel lobby
It has been said that 90% of the senators and state representatives that work in congress in Washington, D.C. take substantial amounts of money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee otherwise known as AIPAC or the Israel lobby.
I decided to look into my state’s representation and I found that Connecticut’s federal legislators are awash in AIPAC money. Both our senators and all five state representatives take Israel lobby money per the AIPAC Tracker website. This must stop.
Israel, with billions of our U.S. tax dollars and high tech U.S. military weapons, has waged war on all of its neighbors. The reported number of dead in Palestine currently exceeds 73,000 people, mostly women and children. Since the alleged ceasefire of October 10, 2025, another 1,352 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,500 Palestinians have been wounded. Palestine is considered the child amputee capital of the world. I fear these totals are really much, much higher.
And then there’s the undeclared war on Iran that started last February. Day one of the sneak attack perpetrated by the United States and Israel killed 156 civilians including 120 school girls at Minab elementary school. I understand it was a triple tap missile attack.
I tuned in to Chris Murphy’s town hall sponsored by the Connecticut Mirror.
Murphy failed to mention any of the death tolls and casualties brought on by our insane foreign policy in the Middle East. He called Iran Donald Trump’s war and said that Trump was mismanaging it. Murphy never mentioned Israel in any context as to why this tragedy happened in the first place. He certainly failed to mention AIPAC and the Israel Lobby as factors.
Since 9/11, the US taxpayer has spent over $8 trillion in the Middle East. Let me say that again, EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS, per Brown University’s Watson study.
I cannot, in good conscience, vote for anyone who thinks this policy is a good idea. Our leaders should be called on the carpet for all of this. We need an adversarial press. Without it we are all lost.
