More than 300,000 space heaters sold at popular retailers recalled over fire risk

As temperatures drop, many people turn to space heaters to warm their homes—but one popular model is now subject to a major safety recall.
About 338,800 DREO space heaters sold at Costco and several major online retailers are being recalled because they can overheat and catch fire, officials with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The recall covers black ceramic electric heaters with model number DR-HSH015, made from April 2025 through January 2026.
The heaters are about 11.5 inches wide and 13 inches tall and come with a remote. The model number and manufacture date are printed on a label on the underside, federal officials said.
Officials with DREO say they have received 17 reports of the heaters igniting. Three reports involved property damage, and one involved a burn to a person’s hand.
Consumers should stop using the heaters immediately and contact DREO for a free replacement, federal officials said.
The company says customers will need to unplug the unit, cut its power cord, and send a photo of the destroyed heater according to its instructions.
The heaters were sold from September 2025 through October 2026 for between $70 and $110 at Costco stores and online at Dreo.com, BestBuy.com, Kohls.com, Lowes.com, QVC.com, HomeDepot.com, B2BRenew.com and Costco.com.
