Experimental indie rockers Deerhoof in Fayetteville on Wednesday

DEERHOOF
WEDNESDAY 10/14. George’s Majestic Lounge, Fayetteville. 8 p.m. $25.

Experimental indie rockers Deerhoof (not to be confused with experimental indie rockers Deerhunter, themselves not to be confused with experimental indie rockers The Dear Hunter), are bringing their wonky, noisy selves down to Fayetteville this month. With a constantly evolving sound ranging from pure noise to meticulously arranged progressive rock (though that admittedly doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the deep well that is Deerhoof’s discography), the most consistent things about Deerhoof — besides their relentless release and touring schedule over three decades — are their unpredictability and originality. I’m personally quite partial to the lush, dreamy pop of albums like 2014’s “La Isla Bonita” and 2016’s “The Magic,” but I’ve never thrown one of their records on and been disappointed. There are few bands as fiercely dedicated to their art and as unwaveringly independent as Deerhoof, and we’re lucky to have them here. Fayetteville’s own The Phlegms are billed as support.
