Sia Sells 50% of Music Catalog to Pophouse in $180 Million Deal

Pophouse Entertainment, the Sweden-based entertainment and music investment firm co-founded by ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus, has acquired a 50% stake in the publishing and master music rights of Australian singer-songwriter, Sia, for $180 million.

According to the announcement, Pophouse will support Sia in developing new creative ventures while continuing to steward her body of work.

While Pophouse announced the deal, the figure was reported by TMZ, noting that the deal is complicated by the singer-songwriter’s recent divorce from Dan Bernad. Citing legal documents, TMZ reports that Sia will receive $165 million for the songs she wrote before she married Bernad — including hits like “Chandelier,” “Titanium” and “Cheap Thrills” — for which he has waived any claims in exchange for a $1 million payment. However, the remaining $15 million, for songs she wrote during their marriage, will be held in escrow until the two agree to terms. The couple were married for less than three years before Sia filed for divorce in March of 2025.

Sia originally rose to international fame with her 2004 song “Breathe,” which was featured in the final episode of the popular HBO series “Six Feet Under.” She went on to rack up nine Grammy nominations and hits like “Unstoppable,” “Chandelier,” “Elastic Heart,” “Cheap Thrills” and, with Diplo and Labrinth as the group LSD, the 2018 hit “Thunderclouds”; she has also co-written hits for Rihanna (“Diamonds”) and Beyonce (“Pretty Hurts”).

Sia said: “I’m really excited to be working with Pophouse. These songs mean so much to me, and I love that they really understand that and want to take care of them. I’ve been making music for a very long time now, and it feels exciting to think about all the new and different ways these songs might get to live on and find people. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can dream up together.”

Pophouse CEO, Jessica Koravos, said: “Sia is an artist whose extraordinary catalogue and unique creative identity offer exceptional opportunities to celebrate and build on her remarkable body of work. This partnership will further empower Sia with strategic support and creative resources to continue pursuing her artistic ambitions while preserving and expanding her influence. It is a privilege to partner with Sia, and we look forward to supporting her continued artistic growth and ability to inspire audiences around the world.”

Pophouse Fund Partner, Shahriar Shokofan, said: “Few artists have shaped modern pop as profoundly as Sia, whose songwriting and unmistakable voice have defined some of the most iconic records of the past few decades. Sia’s ability to balance artistic integrity with mass appeal sets her apart as a truly unstoppable force. We are delighted to partner with her at this point in her career, with a shared ambition to support the continued growth of her catalogue and to unlock new audiences around the world.”

Pophouse’s investment in the Sia catalogue is made through Pophouse Fund I, the firm’s debut fund which closed in March 2025, reaching its hard cap of €1 billion. In addition, over €200 million was secured capital through dedicated co-investment vehicles, bringing the total fundraise to over €1.2bn.

Pophouse’s holdings also include catalogs by Iron Maiden, Tina Turner, Kiss, Cyndi Lauper, Avicii, and Swedish House Mafia. It is also a major investor in such projects as the Avicii Experience, ABBA the Museum, “Mamma Mia! the Party,” and ABBA “Voyage.”
