Rare Pod of About 50 Dolphins Spotted in Seto Inland Sea

EHIME
A rare pod of around 50 dolphins was spotted swimming through the Seto Inland Sea off Ozu, Ehime Prefecture, with dozens of dorsal fins repeatedly breaking the surface as the animals moved together.

The dolphins were encountered by a recreational fishing boat on September 17, and footage taken from the vessel showed large numbers of fins appearing one after another across the water.

The boat’s captain said it was unusual to see such a large group in the area.

The dolphins may have been swimming together while chasing schools of horse mackerel, mackerel or other prey, according to the captain.
