Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching as the Dow Industrials slid just over 400 points, and what’s on the radar for the next session. Brian Niccol is live on ‘Squawk Box’ Thursday morning Niccol, CEO of Starbucks , joins the team in the 8 a.m. ET hour. Shares have gained 30% since he took over, The stock is down 9.5% from the Aug. 13 high. SBUX 1Y mountain Starbucks in the past 12 months Freeport-McMoRan CEO Kathleen Quirk joins Morgan Brennan in the 4 p.m. hour of ” Closing Bell: Overtime .” The mining giant is down 5% from the high hit in late August. Big Data live on ‘Squawk Box’ Weekly jobless claims and the producer price index, a key measure of inflation, come in at 8:30 a.m. The Dow Jones consensus estimate predicts the initial jobless claims number will be 205,000. On a month-to-month basis, the Dow Jones consensus calls for PPI to come in at 0.4%, while the year-over-year estimate is 5.3%. The ” Squawk Box ” team — Becky Quick, Joe Kernen and Andrew Ross Sorkin — will have details and immediate market reaction. Yields The U.S. 2-year Treasury yield hit its highest level since July 2024, reaching 4.434%. The 10-year Treasury yield reached its highest level since November 2023, hitting 4.857%. The 3-month Treasury bill is now yielding 3.9%. The Fidelity Corporate Bond ETF (FCOR) now has a dividend yield of 4.74%. The State Street SPDR Bloomberg High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) has a 6.76% dividend yield. The iShares iBoxx High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) has a 6% yield, and the iShares 0-5 Year High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (SHYG) yields 7.05%. US10Y YTD mountain 10-year Treasury yield in 2026 Macy’s reports in the morning The stock is down 3% in three months. Macy’s shares are off 19% from the Aug. 4 high. Oracle reports in the afternoon The stock is down 21% in three months. Oracle is down 53% from the September 2025 high ORCL 3M mountain Oracle in the past three months HP The tech giant just hit a 52-week high. HPQ shares are up almost 8% so far in September. Big Dow components hitting lows McDonald’s is off 25% from the March 2 high. The stock is now at lows dating back to July 2024. Nike is at a low going back June 2014. Shares are down 51% from the Oct. 2 high. Energy stocks hitting highs Brent crude topped $100 a barrel on Wednesday. Brent and West Texas Intermediate are now both up more than 20% in a month. ConocoPhillips is at a four-year high. The stock is up 3% in September and 45% year to date. Marathon Petroleum is up 146% from its 52-week low hit on New Year’s Eve in 2025. The stock is at an all-time high. Chevron hit an all-time high Wednesday going back to the Texaco merger. The stock is up 3.7% in September. Phillips 66 hit an all-time high going back to the 2013 IPO. The stock has nearly doubled in a year. Valero hit an all-time high. Shares are up almost 5% in two days and up 8.4% so far in September.
