What is the highest score by a debutant in men’s ODIs?
South Africa’s Jordan Hermann scored the joint highest score by a debutant in men’s ODIs in his side’s match against Namibia on Wednesday.
The opener scored 150 off 126 balls to help the Proteas post 348/6 in the first innings. Hermann shares the record with his South African teammate Matthew Breetzke, who also scored 150 in his debut ODI against New Zealand in February 2025.
West Indies’ Desmond Haynes, who scored 148 against Australia all the way back in 1978, is next on the list, followed by Afghanistan’s Ramanalluh Gurbaz and Mark Chapman (for Hong Kong).
For India, KL Rahul currently holds the record, when he scored 100 against Zimbabwe in 2016.
